15 Favorites From Maison & Objet 2017
Held twice a year, Maison & Objet Paris is an unmissable destination for design pros. The fall edition of the show, which concludes on September 12, highlights new trends through a curated selection of furniture, lighting, textiles, and decorative objects. In response to an increasing desire for peace and tranquility, this edition focuses on the theme “Comfort Zone,” which explores products that make us feel good—think soft materials, cloud-like shapes, and soothing pastels.
Maison & Objet’s Designer of the Year, Tristan Auer, who worked on the renovation of the iconic Hôtel de Crillon in Paris, created a whole space devoted to his work. Eight young talents from renowned French design school ENSCI-Les Ateliers—including Samy Rio, Jean-Baptiste Fastrez, and Claire Lavabre, among others—were also invited to showcase their products as part of the Rising Talent Awards.
Singapore-based firm WOHA, named Designer of the Year Asia 2017, is presenting four collections of furniture and objects from their new lifestyle brand WOHAbeing. The five winners of the Rising Asian Talent Awards 2017—Lim + Lu Studio, ADesignStudio, Atelier2+, Jinggoy Buensuceso, and Kamaro’an—also have a presence the Paris show.
