5 Qs With… Sherwin-Williams’ Jackie Jordan
Sherwin-Williams creative director Jackie Jordan offers her personal take on NeoCon in the company’s new 8th-floor booth on day two of the show.
Interior Design:
What did you expect to get out of NeoCon this year? Did it meet expectations?
Jackie Jordan:
Well what we expect to get out NeoCon every year is connecting with designers and introducing them to any new products that we have. This year we launched Emerald, which is our premium product, our zero-VOC product, and also our color cast eco toner rinses that are zero VOC as well. So we’ve been talking to designers about that and also launching our color mix 2012. So absolutely it met our expectations, we’ve been talking to designers all day yesterday and we’ll continue to do that today and tomorrow. We’re getting lots of really positive feedback.

What have you seen that’s interesting or “must-see?”
JJ:
Actually, we went around the floor yesterday and spent most of time on the third floor because that’s where most of all the excitement is, and one of the things that I thought was the most revealing to me is that I didn’t see a lot of pattern. I saw a lot of color, color blocking, bold color, and black and white and gray with a pop of color, but very, very little pattern in textiles.
ID:
Have there been any surprises or things that were unexpected?
JJ:
Oh my goodness, that’s a good question. I don’t think so. As far as from our space and where we’re located and the traffic, we’re excited to be where we’re at where there’s a lot of traffic, as you can tell. A lot more designers are coming through and that’s been really wonderful for us.
ID:
How much – if any – business will you transact here?
JJ:
Well, we’re here more as consultants to the designers. We don’t really sell product here. But we want to make sure that all the top designers have our color tools so that they can specify our colors and also educate them on our new products.
ID:
Is it all work once you’re here, or do you get to do/see some things just for fun?
JJ:
We do some fun stuff – we’ve sponsored a couple of different things: the IIDA event on Sunday, the ASID event last night. So our designer reps got to attend those and have some fun. We get to have great dinners while we’re here in a great food town!
