8 Polish Products Exhibited in Milan’s “Do it Your Way”

A vase drawing attention to animal cruelty and a lamp made of glass test tubes are two clever Polish products on view in Milan exhibit “Do it Your Way.”

Creativity is booming in Poland—if “Do it Your Way. Polish Design in Pieces” is any clue. On view during Milan Design Week, in conjunction with the annual Salone Internazionale del Mobile, the interactive exhibit was bursting at the seams with original products from this Central European country.

The exhibit was sponsored by Polish culture and event website Culture.pl and curated by writer and publisher Ewa Solarz and TABANDA, a design trio of graduates of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gda?sk (Megi Malinowska, Filip Ludka, and Tomasz Kempa).

“The idea was to break the golden rule ‘Do Not Touch,'” says Kempa. “We wanted people to come and not just look at the projects from Poland but to touch them and play. At first, visitors were a bit shy to jump in. We had to warm their minds to this concept. We walked around and showed them that they were truly free to touch things and in a matter of a few hours, we saw that they were really engaged and creating unexpected things.”
