A Letter from Cindy Allen

On behalf of the entire Interior Design Media team,

I want to express our deeply heartfelt condolences to the families of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and the countless other innocent victims of police brutality. We feel their sorrow and their outrage at these wanton acts of injustice—only the most recent in a history-long series of wrongs perpetrated against the Black community, with the craven intent of systematically oppressing a whole sector of our society and thus of dividing us all.

NO. We will not be divided.

NO. We will not succumb to fear.

NO. We will not fall prey to hate.

Design’s open society, its color braveness, its celebration of all cultures, its reach across borders—its ultimate humanism—serves as a compass leading the way to a better and more equitable future. 

To all discord, prevarication, violence, and division, design supplies three words: 

E PLURIBUS UNUM.
