Modular units are all the rage these days, with everyone touting flexibility and mobility. But Annalisa Dominoni and Benedetto Quaquaro promise more: “a rigorous and bold kaleidoscope of features,” as they put it. The partners in Milan-based A+B Design devised the Segno system to be extremely light, both visually and structurally, leaving he heftiness to the options afforded by the collection’s two subdivisions. S-System is a series of components that combine to configure interior architecture, with shelves and dividers in extruded aluminum with MDF panels. The same material mix extends to S-Objects, an assortment of freestanding storage pieces and tables. There’s a wide palette of paints and finishes to ponder, from Chinese red to petroleum blue.
