Be Original Americas Announces 2018 Summer Fellowship

For the third year, Be Original Americas is offering a summer design fellowship in 2018. The program gives two students the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of original design. Be Original Americas is accepting applications from undergraduate students through March 23.

Over a seven-week intensive program that begins on June 11, the students will travel across the country to shadow top manufacturers and design firms, including Emeco, Design Within Reach, Herman Miller, and Studio O+A. Through visits with industry leaders who champion authentic design, the fellows will come away with an understanding of all sides of the business, from research, design, and manufacturing, to marketing, sales, and distribution.

“The fellowship put me in contact with parts of the design industry which I had not really considered before—everything from textile manufacturing to heritage brand archiving,” said 2017 fellow Tom Groom. “The ability to spend one-on-one time talking to professionals in the industry was incredibly impactful.”
