Benjamin Moore’s Color Care Across America Aids Veterans

began its 2nd annual Color Care Across America (CCAA) program in October, providing paint makeovers for homes of wounded U.S. veterans. This week in New York, CCAA selected former Army Supply Sergeant Deron Trent of Brooklyn, who served in Iraq and sustained injuries to his eyes, knee and shoulder and also suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder. Sherry Hill Painting donated labor to paint Trent’s East New York home interior.

“Benjamin Moore reached out to mayors nationwide, as well as an incredible group of non-profits and agencies supporting veterans through out the U.S., to help gather recommendations for [the color tribute],” says Eileen McComb, Benjamin Moore & Co., director of corporate communications.

The Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and Terrance Holliday, Commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Veterans Affairs will also formally recognize Trent for his service to the country at his home on the morning of December 7th at 10 a.m. EST. Community members are encouraged to attend the local event.

This year, CCAA is going state-to-state to honor 51 American heroes, one from each state and Washington D.C.

“Benjamin Moore hopes that CCAA will not just affect the selected veterans, but encourage communities to recognize and support their own local heroes,” explains McComb. “[And] to help make their homecomings happy ones, and continue to offer their support as they readjust to life in their own homes, in their own towns.”
