When a painter puts down his brushes, he might still call his work “paintings.” The pieces in “Brent Wadden,” opening at the New York gallery Mitchell-Innes & Nash on April 23, aren’t the oils he produced in the past. Instead, he embellishes raw canvases with handwoven yarns—wool, cotton, and acrylic sourced from Craigslist, eBay, and thrift stores.
