Carney Logan Burke Architects Creates an Artful Community Hub in Jackson Hole
Jackson Hole isn’t just a skier’s paradise. The Wyoming town is equally exhilarating when lush green grass replaces snow along its rolling hills and mountains. That’s due in part to a robust public art program. Witness Town Enclosure, a new temporary installation by Carney Logan Burke Architects. Commissioned by Jackson Hole Public Art and Center for the Arts, the call for entries mandated a pavilion that could serve as a community hub. CLB responded with what co-principal Eric Logan calls an “armature for creative activity and discovery.” It’s eco-minded, too. Tall panels of spruce-pine-fir sourced from sustainably managed forests are arranged in a sort of theater in the round, one that references the fences and corals of the mountain west region. At the opening, there were performances by the String Lake Trio and Dancers’ Workshop.
