Clarus Glassboards Gives Back to Fort Worth Community

This fall, Clarus Glassboards partnered with Cook Children’s Medical Center in Forth Worth, Texas, for a one-day event that would educate designers about its products while giving back to the community. The company, a design leader in innovative glass dry erase boards and architectural systems, invited 20 North American designers to its headquarters in Forth Worth to show them its line of products and challenge them to design four glass board systems that would then be donated to Cook Children’s.

Clarus Glassboards has had a long-standing business relationship with the medical center, and the center has implemented its products throughout its facility in both patient rooms and offices. The four boards that it donated during the event would be used for patient therapy sessions.

“Cook does a lot of different types of therapy with kids, including art therapy,” says Andrew Philipp, president of Clarus Glassboards. “Here at Clarus we thought, what better way to give back to the community than by donating something that kids could use while staying there?”

After taking a tour of the Clarus Glassboards manufacturing facility, designers were broken up into four groups to create kid-friendly glass dry erase boards. Their creations were then manufactured right then and there, and the teams delivered their final products later that day to a group of waiting patients.

One example was a glass board containing drawings of superheroes—one for boys and the other for girls. Using markers, the kids could color in the drawings and make their own unique superhero scene.

“The kids went from board to board and wanted to color on all of them. You could just see their excitement,” Philipp says. “It was a very unique event that gave designers the chance to learn about our products while doing something meaningful for our community. I think they all left with a sense of accomplishment.”
