Designwire: 16th Century Teahouse

Photography courtesy of Hoshino Resort Tomamu.

There’ll be a 16th-century teahouse… it will be a replica, but it will be full-scale. It’s part of “Japan in Architecture: Genealogies of its Transformation,” at the Mori Museum, Tokyo, through September 17. Among the exhibition’s nine sections are additional architectural models, a new video installation by Rhizomatiks Architecture, and myriad photographs, including one of the Chapel on the Water at the Hoshino Resort Tomamu, a 1988 project in Hokkaido by Tadao Ando Architects & Associates.
