Inside Monica Castiglioni’s New Jewelry Atelier in Ortigia, Italy
To revisit her Sicilian roots, Monica Castiglioni has opened a showroom/shop, her third, on the Italian island of Ortigia. Occupying an 11th-century, 1,000-square-foot basso, or old house, it’s where tradition and innovation collide: Alongside her well-known Pistilli family of bronze jewelry and sculptures are rings, bracelets, and necklaces that have been 3-D printed in polyamide, a collaboration with Fabio Ciciani. It marks a new stage in Castiglioni’s ever-evolving, multihyphenate career. “I love,” she says, “venturing into the unknown.”
