Inside Wesley Cadle’s U.S. Open Mercedes-Benz Suite
To mark the first day of the
U.S. Open
tennis tournament in New York, we’re offering an exclusive glimpse inside the U.S. Open 2012 Mercedes-Benz suite designed by
Wesley Cadle
. Through September 13, guests of the company can view the nation’s finest matches in Cadle’s comfortable, 1,300-square-foot VIP lounge located adjacent to the Arthur Ashe Stadium center court in Queens, New York.
“The suite’s inspiration was the clean smooth lines of a yacht interior with influences of the 1930’s and 1950’s,” says Cadle. “The sleek surfaces against warm textures relay a feeling of luxury.”
The space comprises an entry area, two bathrooms, a bar, buffet, seating area, and a court-side cocktail area with viewing seats. To create a residential atmosphere, Cadle custom designed the sectional, ottoman, tables, cabinetry and upholstery and used cork flooring and grass-cloth wall covering to cultivate warmth.
Mercedes-Benz, a longtime client of Cadle, is a presenting sponsor for the event for the first time this year. The suite was designed, produced, and installed as part of an agreement with the U.S. Tennis Association, and will maintain the same furnishings and finishes for the next four years while being used exclusively for the U.S. Open.
