John Yeon Retrospective Examines His Influence on Pacific Northwest Modernism
John Yeon put Pacific Northwest modernism on the map. Known for Oregon’s Portland Visitor Information Center as well as residential work, he also collected Asian decorative art. See it—and its influence on his architecture—in “Quest for Beauty: The Architecture, Landscapes, and Collections of John Yeon” at the Portland Art Museum through September 3. The exhibition features original models and drawings alongside images by mid-century photographer Ezra Stoller. It’s accompanied by two books published by the Yeon Center with Monfried Editions, John Yeon: Architecture and John Yeon: Landscape.
