As creative geniuses go, we’re not sure we’d put

Marc Newson

on a par with Leonardo da Vinci, but the London-based Australian designer—who enjoys gallery representation by Larry Gagosian, renowned for propelling artists to stardom —has certainly been prolific in his 26-year-long career. According to his own website, Newson’s designs account for nearly one quarter of the total contemporary design market. For those requiring assistance to keep track of the countless objects and projects produced since 1986’s breakthrough Lockheed Lounge, Taschen offers one of its typically luxurious tomes:

Marc Newson: Works

.

Editor Alison Castle organized essays by Laszlo Adams, Nicholas Foulkes, Louise Neri, and Alice Rawsthorn to fill in the larger cultural blanks between the publication’s encyclopedic organization of Newson’s output. Extended focus is given to the designer’s especially splashy projects, including the Kelvin40 plane, Qantas Airbus A380, Ford 021C, and Aquariva boat. The 610-page hardcover collector’s edition of 1,000, with linen slipcase is available now for $1,000, while an art edition of 100, featuring a leather inlay and a Micarta slipcover, can be yours for a mere $6,000.
