Nanimarquina Brings Jaime Hayon’s Sketches to Life in New Rugs

Hayon x Nani by Jaime Hayon and Nanimarquina.

A pair of Spanish talents joins forces in Hayon x Nani, a collaboration between designer Jaime Hayon and rug specialist Nanimarquina. “Freestyle hand-drawing capturing the exuberant elements of my imagination is translated into extraordinarily delicate crafting,” Hayon says. Indeed: The hand-tufting process, in which manually operated pistons inject pieces of New Zealand wool onto backing, creates fluid lines that faithfully reproduce Hayon’s sketches. At first glance, the composition seems chaotic. But upon closer inspection, playful imagery surfaces: turtles, lips, fish, even a few man-bird crossbreeds. Choose from three rectangular versions and one square, the latter able to double as a wall tapestry. At ICFF’s SoHo Design District booth.
