Philadelphia’s Center for Art in Wood’s “Alluturnatives” Exhibit Focuses on Form and Spirit

For 22 years, Philadelphia’s Center for Art in Wood has sponsored the Windgate ITE International Residency, in which eight fellows—this year, ranging from a photojournalist to a curator—spend 10 weeks exploring new work through research and collaboration. The program culminates in an exhibition called “Allturnatives,” up through October 14. Exquisite Cardboard is New Jersey–based furniture-maker Jason Schneider’s circular composition in corrugated cardboard and plaster, while Irish sculptor Max Brosi’s Last Stand comprises a blue wax bowl contained in an open vessel made of wood from what’s said to be the final stand of elm trees in the U.S.
