Pierre Yovanovitch Curates Show at R & Company in NYC
With some 60,000 followers on Instagram, Pierre Yovanovitch is practically a household name. At least in households favoring an aesthetic that coordinates time periods, provenances, and natural materials with minimalist chic. He started out as a menswear designer for Pierre Cardin, after all.
Since founding Pierre Yovanovitch Architecture d’Intérieur, his work as a whole has become well-known. But perhaps less familiar are his individual furniture and scenic designs. On September 7, that changes.
“Oops Curated by Pierre Yovanovitch,” at R & Company in New York through October 19, features a living-room setting appointed with both pieces he’s designed specially for the occasion and vintage ones he’s chosen from the gallery’s permanent collection. They include 1940’s examples by Greta Magnusson Grossman and Joaquim Tenreiro. “It’s a dialogue between 20th- and 21st-century design,” he says. We’re all ears.
