Reddymade Architecture Fills Prospect Park With 7,000 Pinwheels

One architect.

3,000 drawings.

7,000 pinwheels. 

Three shades of yellow.

10 days.

Community members submitted artworks to be digitally printed on the pinwheels, made of a stone-dust composite. Photography by Amanda Gentile.
The installation was parametrically mapped to encircle three empty pools in the rose garden of the park, designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux. Photography by Evan Joseph.
