Sawaya & Moroni: Fei Fei Chair
Although he’s hosted such luminaries as Michael Graves and Zaha Hadid, William Sawaya is always eager to stretch his own aesthetic muscles. He makes that point, quite literally, with Fei Fei. Introduced this year at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan, the chair emulates the folding qualities of origami, but with a curved sensibility. The injection molded piece is formed from a single sheet of high-density polyurethane that’s fitted over a steel frame for stability. That’s critical, especially since the back folds inward to form stilettolike legs. Standing 31 . inches high, 20 wide, and 26 deep, the chair is available in white, gray, red, black, or two-tone red and white. Custom colors are also welcome.
