SBE Hotel Group selects DesignAgency for new Hyde Hotels, Resorts and Residences
Los Angeles-based hospitality company sbe has announced its pick to collaborate on new concepts for its Hyde brand: Ontario’s DesignAgency, who previously designed the 18,000 square foot Hyde Lounge at T-Mobile Arena in Los Angeles.
“We are thrilled to engage in another successful design and creative collaboration,” says Joe Faust, president of the Dakota Development division of sbe. “DesignAgency’s leadership team has a shared vision of crafting modern, high-energy spaces, and [they] deliver the highest quality of service.”
First on the boards is a condo-hotel project in California’s Coachella Valley, which will include six freestanding luxury villas, 48 additional pool and garden villas, 153 two-bedroom condo units, 360 guest rooms, and a number of dining and event spaces. Hyde Resort & Residences Coachella Valley joins the more than 100 properties sbe currently operates or is developing around the world. By 2019, its SLS Hotel & Residences brand alone will include almost 4000 hotel rooms and 1600 residences.
“We admired what sbe’s SLS Hotels accomplished with Philippe Starck and others,” says DesignAgency principal Anwar Mekhayech, referencing SLS Las Vegas, the Starck-designed mixed use resort and casino that in 2014 was the first new property to open on the Vegas Strip in three years. “We hope to bring similar magic to our collaboration.”
Headquartered in Ontario and Barcelona, DesignAgency has clients in more than 26 cities across 9 countries. They were finalists for two Interior Design Best of Year Awards in 2014 for their work on the Generator Hostels in London and Venice.
