It was the rule: if we were going to have a specialty spot like we did last year in the Merchandise Mart’s North Lobby, then we had to invest in a smaller booth. That was the NeoCon rule this year,” explains the company’s business development manager Kendra Dare. So the materials and applications innovator decided to capitalize on the opportunity, putting the booth to good use to offer product demos of their parametric design tool. The booth also allowed them to display new finishes and applications in printing that they’re introducing this year.

Seeyond had three spaces at the Mart: booth 8-4119, the installation on the first floor’s North Lobby, and the s-shaped wall at the Best of NeoCon booth on floor seven. Ideally, next year the company will have their showcase installation and booth workshop right next door to each other rather than on separate floors. But, they’re not complaining: “My impression is that NeoCon feels energized again this year, and it hasn’t felt like that for years. The industry has been hurting,” says Seeyond’s Chicago sales rep Jim Hanson. “I think people are reenergized about coming to the Mart and seeing stuff again – I can feel it in the elevators! I don’t know what the attendance numbers are, but it has to be huge compared to the years prior.” For an installation video
