The Center for Sustainable Landscapes at Pittsburgh’s Phipps Conservatory
The Center for Sustainable Landscapes at Pittsburgh’s Phipps Conservatory is finally complete, the culmination of a 10-year expansion by Architecture/Design Alliance. Built to achieve net-zero energy consumption with the help of solar panels, a wind turbine, and geothermal wells, the 24,000-square-foot structure also incorporates recycled materials. Certification is being pursued not only for LEED Platinum but also for the Living Building Challenge and Sustainable Sites Initiative.
