Under the Cypress Trees: Promemoria’s Outdoor Furnishings Collection Debuts in US

Under the Cypress Trees

Straight from the shores of Lake Como, the site of Promemoria’s factory, the Italian company’s Outdoor furnishings collection has debuted stateside at the New York showroom. Founder and creative director Romeo Sozzi conceived the 20 chairs, sofas, tables, and lamps, which include three designs named for towns on the lake.

Much of the seating benefits from upholstery in a proprietary acrylic that’s colorfast, mildew-resistant, and woven to breathe rather than collecting moisture. Acrylic-covered cushions soften both the Moltrasio daybed, in dyed ash with bronze details, and the dyed-ash Tremezzo love seat, which reclines manually to three positions. (There’s a coordinating Tremezzo table, too.) And Cernobbio, an armchair in dyed ash with bronze details, comes in two sizes. You won’t find a town called Quentin anywhere on a map of Italy, however-the bronze folding seat, Promemoria’s interpretation of a director’s chair, references cinema’s Quentin Tarantino. The curved arm flaunts the manufacturer’s frog logo, a symbol of always moving forward. 646-588-4409;
