200 Celebrate Spanish Culture at Wine & Design
Two hundred designers, sponsors, and design enthusiasts gathered at the AIGA National Design Center to celebrate Spanish culture and design. The evening marked the second anniversary of the event, hosted by Interior Design in partnership with Interiors from Spain and Spain’s Great Match. Sponsors include Bover, Colonial, Estiluz, Gandia Blasco, Kettal, LZF, Marset, Nanimarquina, Now Carpets, Porcelanosa, and Vibia.
Manuel Estrada of Manuel Estrada Graphic Design was the guest of honor, since his exhibit “Estrada: Sailing through Design” was on display at the AIGA (see Interior Design‘s video interview with Estrada here), where it will remain through October 11.
María del Coriseo Gonzales-Izquierdo, CEO, ICEX Trade and Investment, welcomed the crowd, saying, “When we wanted to do an event in New York, we wanted to bring people together in a community of good food, good company, and of course, good wine.” Without further gusto, the mic was handed over to Thirsty Girl Leslie Sbrocco, who talked the audience through 10 wines in rapid-fire pace, starting out with a cava and moving to the darker pinots.
As Interior Design editor in chief Cindy Allen remarked at the evening’s close: “After all, what does the design community do better than wine and design?”
