Cindy Allen Chats With Inc Architecture & Design at What’s New What’s Next
Last night, as members of New York’s design industry descended on 200 Lex for What’s New What’s Next, a special conversation was taking place at Verellen‘s showroom. Cindy Allen, editor in chief of Interior Design, spoke to Inc Architecture & Design principals Drew Stuart and Adam Rolston about their firm’s modus operandi and the exciting new projects they’ve recently added to their portfolio.
The designers, who both got their start working with Interior Design Hall of Fame members Calvin Tsao and Zack McKown, described the principles that define their practice. By paying close attention to context and treating their design process as an open-source entity that welcomes ideas, Inc has created a successful practice with high-profile work across sectors.
One of those projects is the new 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, a property that captures picture-perfect views of the waterfront and promotes an eco-friendly mission. Rolston describes working on the hotel as “visualizing a green sensibility in the context of luxury.” Cindy shared the details that she loved in the space, from stone sink basins sourced from a local quarry to lamp shades made of mushrooms, while Rolston and Stuart talked about some of the behind-the-scenes challenges. The project will be featured in Interior Design‘s upcoming September issue and a video walkthrough—stay tuned!
