Interior Design and ASID Investigate Design’s Future at Platform

If designers know one thing, it’s that design is evolutionary by nature. Innovations in aesthetics, materials, and process have propelled the field forward by leaps and bounds over the years—with the advent of the digital age, the pace has only quickened. It’s important for designers, especially firm leaders, to stay abreast of industry changes and learn from innovators in other fields to stay ahead of the game. Luckily, there’s a conference for that.

ASID’s Platform was billed as a retreat for design visionaries, but in actuality it functioned more like a TEDx symposium with perks. Amid the breathtaking landscape of Park City, Utah, principals, partners, and firm owners gathered for three days at the Montage Deer Valley Resort to hear visionaries discuss new developments and emerging trends across various fields. This year’s speakers included composer and inventor Philip Sheppard, award-winning diversity consultant Risha Grant, artificial intelligence expert Tom Gruber, and expert economic forecaster Marci Rossell.

“ASID Platform was an intimate and inspiring retreat that gave attendees a refreshed perspective on our industry through a thought-provoking lens,” says Interior Design publisher Carol Cisco, neatly summarizing this extraordinary event.
