Interior Design re:Source 2018 Greets Designers and Manufacturers in Palm Springs

This week, 100 designers and manufacturers gathered at the Parker in Palm Springs, CA, for Interior Design’s biannual re:Source event. re:Source gives designers the opportunity to discover and match with suppliers, as well as see inspect their latest offerings through targeted, face-to-face meetings. A total of 617 appointments took place over the course of the retreat.

Monday’s programming began with an exciting and informative lecture by Interior Design publisher Carol Cisco on the “Business of Design,” in which she presented the most up-to-date information about the industry, culled from Interior Design’s new Universe Study. Then, deputy editor Edie Cohen moderated a conversation with California installation artist Phillip K. Smith and Desert X executive director Jenny Gil on the inaugural edition of the wildly popular Desert X program, a contemporary art installation series in the Coachella Valley.

“The desert is more beautiful than anything I could ever make,” Smith said, referencing his piece The Circle of Land and Skywhich features 300 geometric, mirror-polished stainless-steel reflectors. Desert X will resume for a second year on February 9.

In the afternoon, designers and suppliers had two options for fun, physical activity. Some guests chose to hike the Araby Trail, taking in sweeping views of the Coachella Valley. Others went on an intimate, curated tour of some of the city’s finest examples of mid-century modern architecture and interiors. Dinner was hosted at Mister Parker’s, the resort’s elegant French-cuisine restaurant.
