Michael Aram Toasts 25th Anniversary with DIFFA Benefit
This week in New York, Robert restaurant at the Museum of Arts and Design was dramatically rearranged to feature the glittering metalwork of Michael Aram, who has dazzled the design community for years—25 to be exact. To celebrate this momentous anniversary, intricate foliage, outstretched wings, and other forms were rendered in silver and gold hues as part of the new Atelier sculpture collection.
The event benefitted DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation Fighting Aids. In attendance were Cindy Allen, editor in chief of Interior Design and chair of the board, and David Rockwell, founder of Rockwell Group and chair emeritus, and Evette Rios, trustee of DIFFA. Joining them were design notables Jamie Drake of Drake Design Associates, Tracy Reese, Isabel & Ruben Toledo, Robert Verdi, and Geoffrey Zakarian.
“I have always tried to approach my pieces with a bit of whimsy, some quirkiness. I’ve brought this to tableware, dinnerware, and decorative pieces,” Aram reflects. “Now, it’s time to complete the table, look at the rest of the room. I’m turning to furnishings.”
If he approaches these pieces with the same exactitude and craftsmanship, they are sure to amaze.
