Sunbrella’s Latest Collection of Performance Fabrics is Versatile and Vivacious
“We’re constantly developing new types of yarn,” says Greg Voorhis, executive design director at Sunbrella, a leading manufacturer of performance fabrics in contract and residential spaces, for more than two decades. Working across departments to share strategic innovations and technology, Sunbrella continues to raise the bar on stylish multipurpose fabrics that are weather-resistant and bleach cleanable. For Sunbrella’s latest collection, Voorhis notes that it’s “the choice in patterns that really stands out,” with innovative weaves and yarns that allow for new possibilities to put timeless textures in all types of spaces.
Comprised of 12 unique patterns available in multiple shades, Sunbrella’s Balance collection is a mélange of alluring textures. The inviting, solid-color Nurture, for example, features a loosely woven boucle yarn. “It’s a soft, sophisticated texture which has a nice balance with patterns,” Voorhis says of the boucle, also featured in Infuse and Equal. The Bliss pattern is made using the barber pull method which, as Voorhis explains, “looks like a rigid weave from a few feet away but is softer-to-the-touch than expected.”
“We developed the Balance collection to stand on its own,” Voorhis explains. “We were inspired to make the mid-century style modern for today.” Eye catching and eclectic color combinations with saturated hues grounded by earth-inspired neutrals like hazy blues and lush greens define Balance’s palette. Voorhis assures designers that “color stays consistent from year to year” given Sunbrella’s fade and UV-resistant properties.
Suited for any and all environments, Sunbrella’s Balance collection enables designers to play with complex yet composed design elements that are approachable and energizing whether specifying for residential or commercial spaces. “The beauty of Balance is that you can use it wherever,” gushes Voorhis.
