2013 BOY Winner: Large Media Office
In a business that’s a lot about image, this talent agency needed a statement headquarters on par with its peers. So Interior Design Hall of Fame member Lauren Rottet and her firm’s principal Richard Riveire were tapped to recast 120,000 square feet, spread across two buildings, as an environment with residential and hospitality notes. A starring role went to contemporary art, first encountered in one of the most quotidian spots: In the valet-parking lounge, the two letters of the word no, sculptures in plywood and spray paint, appear to have been wheeled in on ordinary hand trucks. That piece is by a lesser-known artist. Among the big names is Pae White, commissioned for the colorful kaleidoscopic tapestry in reception.
The real stars are of course. . .the stars. With clients such as Judd Apatow, Johnny Depp, and Gwyneth Paltrow, there has to be a screening room. This one boasts plush caramel-colored seating that Riveire calls “Bentley banquettes.”
