Archibaldi Channels the Elements for Herno’s First U.S. Boutique

Italian fashion brand Herno began making waterproof cotton raincoats to protect against the elements almost 70 years ago. Today, they’ve brought those elements—and full collections of outerwear—to a 1,350-square-foot shop in SoHo, thanks to long-time collaborators Archibaldi. An oversized beech bookcase encloses the rear chamber’s fireplace; a living wall offers a bucolic touch, as do flannel-covered slate walls and oversized tufted armchairs. In the entry, a fountain fills the air with the sound of bubbling water. And in the air, each season’s collections hang suspended via leather straps and stainless-steel hooks resembling mountain climbing carabiners.
