Blockstudio’s Colorful Briket Market Enlivens a Moscow Shopping Mall
It’s located in a Moscow shopping mall called Tsvetnoy Central Market… that means “colorful.” So the new food court had to live up to the name. Local firm Blockstudio led by Natalia and Ivan Trofimov designed “Briket Market” on the mall’s 5th floor, host to 24 restaurants, a mix of familiar flavors and new culinary endeavors. It’s conceptualized as a group of “briquettes,” or blocks, from the cubelike food stalls to stacks of custom rectangular cement benches. The color scheme is primarily a light gray, which only makes the contrasting splashes of bold hues pop even more. Its minimalist scheme makes Briket a flexible all-purpose space for meeting, eating, or relaxing mid-shopping spree. As a bonus, the team made environmentally friendly design choices wherever possible. From staff aprons of recycled denim to reusable ceramic tableware in lieu of plastic, it’s built for a sustainable future.
