Feel Good, Work Well: At Astellas Pharma Europe

Working conditions for Astellas Pharma Europe weren’t up to snuff. Offices were warrens, split among three buildings. But the situation was remedied when the company consolidated its staff of 400 in a Foster + Partners building in Chertsey, outside London, and asked Pringle Brandon Perkins + Will to fit out the interiors.

Pringle Brandon Perkins + Will did more than just pull together snazzy furnishings; the firm proposed a whole new way of working, one centered on an open plan and collaboration. The 100,000 square feet are divided into two upper levels of work space and a ground-level “street” featuring the café, the auditorium, and meeting facilities both open and closed. Upstairs, desks are mostly unassigned, and each employee has a locker for personal items. Mother Nature inspired the vibrant color palette and large-scale graphics.
