How do you top the world’s largest luxury cruise ship suite? You design one that’s even larger (at 4,433 square feet) and features a $200,000 hand-crafted Vividus bed by Hästens. That’s what Tillberg Design of Sweden has in the works for the just revealed Regent Suite onboard Regent Seven Seas Splendor, the 750-passenger luxury cruise ship set to debut in February 2020.

Design renderings show elegant interiors clad in marble and onyx and accented with dark oak, rich leathers, warm brass, and a lot of glass and mirror details. “Seven Seas Splendor is about luxury perfected, and we looked for large and small details that would enable us to perfect luxury in the newest Regent Suite,” says Isabel Nilsson, an interior designer at Tillberg Design.

In addition to the Hästens bed, the suite features furniture by Dering Hall, Longhi, Minotti, Luxdeco, Exteta, B&B Italia, and Kettal. Grohe is the main supplier of bath and spa fixtures, with The Watermark Collection providing the designer faucet. Carpets are by Dansk Wilton, with an area rug by The Rug Company in the Winter Garden. The suite’s luxurious upholstery is by Zinc Textile and Black Edition, while Dedar supplied exclusive curtains and Rubelli the decorative throw pillows.

The $200,000 Vividus bed by Hästens is built by four master artisans in Köping, Sweden, and features a pinewood frame, steel springs, and layers of flax, horsetail hair and cotton and wool batting. It takes 300 hours of labor and 18 months to complete.

According to Nilsson, the biggest changes in Splendor’s Regent Suite from the Tillberg-design Regent Suite on 2016’s Seven Seas Explorer is a bath and spa area that is 30 percent larger to incorporate a floor-to-ceiling ocean-view shower. Designers also moved the outdoor jetted tub to the front part of the balcony and relocated the bar counter in the dining area to enlarge the living room and provide an unobstructed view out through the solarium.

As for perfecting luxury, Nilsson says designers embraced “a world of daring sophistication and imagined the suite to appear like a jewel box.”

“We wanted to create a one-of-a-kind experience for the guest to step out of the ordinary and into an extraordinary haven of luxury,” she says.

Stepping into that haven, which features two bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths, comes with an all-inclusive price of $11,000 per night (based on double occupancy) and the Regent Suite is already sold out for nearly all of the ship’s inaugural 2020 season sailings.
