Paola Navone Goes Indoor-Outdoor for Gervasoni
Paola Navone plays with proportion and materiality with InOut, an outdoor seating series for Gervasoni so named because—hello?—it works just as well inside as out. The Interior Design Hall of Famer has created a two-branch family, divided by shape and scale. The first line is plump and oversized, like the 419 loveseat, its polystyrene-polyurethane foam core dressed in a removable polyester cover digitally printed to mimic woodgrain. The 621 loveseat shares a similarly substantial genetic code, but is hand-woven of kubu rattan over aluminum. The other line, in contrast, is almost skeletal in form, its slimmed-down profiles constructed from aged teak woven with PVC. The approach is tight and tailored in the 861 armchair and 863 sofa, while the rough-hewn weave of the 865 chair exudes primitive chic.
