Pierre Yovanovitch’s New Design for the Villa Noailles Boutique Dares to be Bold

French designer Pierre Yovanovitch has a longstanding relationship with Villa Noailles—an art center in Hyères, in the south of France, which is committed to supporting established and emerging designers—nestled in a modernist house built in the 1920s by architect Robert Mallet-Stevens for art patrons Charles and Marie-Laure de Noailles.

“When the director, Jean-Pierre Blanc, tapped me to serve as jury president of Design Parade Toulon in 2018, I was thrilled,” Yovanovitch remembers. “To this day, the scenography my team and I created for that festival is one of my fondest memories.” For the second consecutive year, Yovanovitch shaped the interior of the Villa’s retail space, mixing bright colors and geometric motifs with a selection of contemporary and vintage design objects chosen in collaboration with Graziella Semerciyan gallery.

“It’s the daring and experimenting spirit of Villa Noailles and its founder Marie-Laure that I wanted reflected in the light-hearted and eccentric design of the boutique,” Yovanovitch confesses.
