Resident’s Latest Seating Collection Can Be Configured in Countless Ways
There’s room for one, or all, in the latest seating from Simon James, cofounder and creative director of Resident, the New Zealand design-build brand. Arcade is a “kit of parts,” he explains, a modular system of interlocking components, offered in a multitude of profiles and dimensions, that can be configured in countless ways—from a two-seat sofa to a 25-foot-long corner unit. But James also indulges the individual with Isabella, its slim three-legged base suggesting “a hint of cantilever” while still providing sturdy support. Sofa and chair cushions feature foam-feather filling, while cover options include various fabrics, leathers, and COM. Complete the setting with Philippe Malouin’s Offset oak coffee table, and the studio’s Hex 750 aluminum-brass pendant.
