Roger Thomas Brings A Reworked Classicism To New Rocky Mountain Hardware Collections

Roger Thomas, executive vice president of design for Wynn Design and Development and Interior Design Hall of Famer, and Rocky Mountain Hardware, the leading manufacturer of artisan bronze architectural hardware in the U.S. are back at it again, releasing a third collection of high-end hardware for the home. The two giants came together for the first time in 2010 and again in 2014, each time introducing something utterly unique to the market and building a foundation for a strong, long-lasting creative relationship.

For their latest collaboration, Thomas and Rocky Mountain Hardware looked to the past, mixing diverse sources of inspiration such as vintage ballet barres, 1920s furniture, and 18th-century French decorative arts. Thomas’s contemporary edge appears in the little details and is certainly brought to light in the dozen eye-catching finishes that Rocky Mountain Hardware offers. The two new collections are called Barre and Zeppelin.

“The new collections are designed to honor classical elegance,” explains Thomas, “but are kicked up with modern sculptural details to form pieces that will be regarded as heirlooms of tomorrow. Hardware opens the door to imagination in architectural design. It’s the point of most human contact in a space and when thoughtfully balanced, its form and function can profoundly elevate one’s overall experience in a room.”

Barre

Barre takes design cues from the minimal elegance of a ballet barre and the precise lines of a trained dancer. This collection exemplifies architectural simplicity, restraint, and decisive forms. There are three cabinet pulls, one cabinet knob, and one door lever in this offering.

Zeppelin

Zeppelin is more romantic in nature. The series, which includes three cabinet pulls and a cabinet knob and door lever, wouldn’t look out of place among Art Deco or Arts & Crafts styling. Sculptural elements, like tapered lines and fluted posts, give this collection an artistic edge.
