Inside Sketch’s ‘Crafted Wonder’ Installation at the London Design Festival<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Sketch, the London dining and art destination founded by Mourad Mazouz, celebrated its 20th anniversary last year. Over the two decades, its spaces have been designed and redesigned by such luminaries as No\u00e9 Duchaufour-Lawrance, Yinka Shonibare, and Interior Design<\/em> Hall of Famer India Mahdavi<\/a>. Sketch also participates in the annual London Design Festival, creating temporary immersive installations. This year\u2019s iteration, titled \u201cCrafted Wonder,\u201d transformed three rooms into boundary-pushing, international examples of the handmade. It began at the entry, where French rug maker La Manufacture Cogolin covered the floor and arches with a golden pattern derived from 1930\u2019s gouache drawings by the late fashion illustrator Christian B\u00e9rard. The mode shifted to this century in the bar: Multi\u00addis\u00adci\u00adpli\u00adnary British artist Julian Carter forged what he calls a \u201cthree-dimensional line drawing\u201d from steel rods. Finally, in the lounge, Czech glass manu\u00adfac\u00adturer Lasvit presented a special gold version of its Herbarium chandelier by M\u00e1ria \u010culenov\u00e1 Hostinova to complement the lush botanical setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
