So when a 3,500-square-foot space in Flatiron\u2019s iconic Goelet Building opened up, they knew it was exactly the right spot for a new headquarters for their 50 agents. They enlisted architect Billy Cotton and, for the interiors, ASH NYC. Done deal.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"size-regular\">The only trouble? \u201cThe space had a very postmodern office built out in the 90s or 2000s,\u201d says architect <a href=\"https:\/\/billycotton.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Billy Cotton<\/a>. \u201cWhich we removed.\u201d In came recreations of original moldings, sound-insulating corduroy wallpaper, and arrangements of design classics and custom pieces. \u201cIt directly responds to Avenue 8\u2019s approach to modernizing the age-old real estate process,\u201d says <a href=\"https:\/\/ashnyc.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ASH<\/a> director of staging, East Coast, Dylan Stilin. The central vignette is more cocktail lounge than cubicle set: \u201cIt\u2019s inspired by its immediate context,\u201d Stilin says, \u201cencircled by the building\u2019s large arch windows and the sweeping city views of Broadway below.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"size-regular\">And, says Avenue 8 co-founder Michael Martin, \u201cthe days of the cold, sterile cubicles are gone.
