LMNL Studio collaborated with artist Windy Chien to recreate two rope sculptures in a virtual gallery to visualize them at a grand scale. After working with her to build a physical art car earlier, LMNL Studio re-imagined the knotted dome of the car as a 30-foot pavilion in a courtyard by the sea. The virtual experience captures the essence of tactile materiality—a powerful prototyping tool for Chien to validate how to physically build knotted architecture at scale. It’s also a teaching tool for the wider public about the role of materiality in the virtual realm.
