48th Annual NOMA Conference Kicks Off in Virtual Format

The National Organization of Minority Architects will host their 48th Annual NOMA Conference in a virtual format, beginning October 14. The new digital platform created for the event has amassed the conference’s highest turnout with over 1,500 audience members registered for discussions featuring architects, designers, academics, urban planners, community developers, artists, and students. This year’s theme, “Spatial Shifts: Reclaiming Our Cities,” centers the discourse around how architecture can create a more equitable future. 

Organized by conference co-chairs June Grant, NOMA, RA, SF NOMA president, and Rod Henmi, NOMA, FAIA, LEED AP, the conference aims to be a call to action for the A&D community, empowering attendees to champion the shift of existing structures. The more than 40 online lectures, seminars, and networking events, including Fireside Chats with industry leaders and representatives from architecture programs at historically Black colleges and universities, are sure to offer a variety of perspectives, adding to today’s design discussions. Curated by the San Francisco NOMA Chapter, conference festivities will come to a close with the NOMA Awards Brunch on Saturday, October 17.
