Avenue Road Brings Bruno Moinard’s New Collection to North America
Avenue Road has announced that it is working exclusively with celebrated Paris-based interior architect Bruno Moinard to bring his latest collection to its North America showrooms in New York and Toronto. The bespoke collection, which debuted in Paris in late 2014, includes about two-dozen pieces, including seating, tables, lighting, and accessories. Moinard has created several pieces exclusively for Avenue Road, including the Colpo chair and the Belem bookcase.
To coincide with the collection’s debut, Avenue Road will be hosting a book signing to celebrate the U.S. release of Moinard’s first monograph, Bruno Moinard: From Line to Light, at its Manhattan showroom on April 6. The coffee-table book contains never-before-published photographs of his work, and is the perfect complement to the new collection.
“When I previewed the bespoke collection in Paris, the material selection and textures caught my attention and I knew they would be a good fit for Avenue Road,” says Stephan Weishaupt, founder and creative director of Avenue Road. “The collection is sculptural without being too artsy and dominant.”
Standout items include a steel-and-leather coffee table with a customizable surface and lacquers and a steel-framed bench made with woven horsehair. Other materials used in his collection include wood, marble, blown glass, and rolled paper.
“The materials that he used are unique and they take furniture and luxury to the next level,” Weishaupt says. “His collection is for anyone who wants something unique and bespoke, but with the luxury and construction that comes with French craftsmanship. He is taking furnishings to the max.”
In addition to creating furnishings, Moinard has designed more than 300 boutiques for Cartier, and many pieces of his current collection descended from ones he created for the high-end jewelry company.
