From natty winter wools to casual summer twills, tartan plaid is an all-season classic. Now the Venetian fabric expert puts checks in the balance with a luxe printed-velvet version. Macallan capitalizes on that unconventional choice, with colors that seem to blur like an out-of-focus photo. Varyingly intense gradations create a lustrous, almost iridescent look, helping to recast the familiar pattern as au courant. The 55-inch-wide cotton, with 9-inch horizontal and 13 1/2-inch vertical repeats, is available in five colors: red, gray, aqua, moss, and blue. There are also two digitally printed vinyl wall coverings to match, in aqua and sand.
