Fort Makers’ Elemental Holds Collection Doubles as Hooks and Hardware
Naomi Clark painted her way to an MFA. Noah James Spencer was an apprentice furniture-maker. Nana Spears worked in the fashion industry. A mixed bag to be sure, but diversity begets solidarity at Fort Makers, the multidisciplinary studio founded by the trio. Large public-art installations established its reputation. Now, home goods make the aesthetic accessible on an individual scale. Spencer conceived the Elemental Holds collection as a family of abstract brass sculptures intended to be used as hooks or cabinet hardware. Shapes are tagged with self-descriptive monikers such as Cloud, Bolt, Moon, Mountains, Pebble, Cocoon, and Smile.
