George Kordaris Returns to Humanscale as Global Director of Research and Design

has announced that George Kordaris will return as the company’s global director of research and design following a tenure as CEO of

Moroso

.

A true industry veteran, Kordaris began his career at Knoll as a chair repairman, eventually climbing the company ladder to become vice president of

Knoll International

. Positions at Vecta,

Vitra

, and head of A&D at

Herman Miller

followed, after which Kordaris served as president of Humanscale International for eight years. He comes back to the company after a tenure as CEO of Moroso.

“The one thing that’s the same around the world—whether you’re in New York or Bangkok or Sydney,” Kordaris says, “is how people work in an office. Everyone has a computer, a monitor, a keyboard, a desk and a chair and basically works the same way. What differs are the people. Our mission at Humanscale is to make work tools that adapt effortlessly to each user without them having to think about it. We strive to make things that are beautiful but also work really well.”

In 2004, Niels Diffrient nominated Kordaris to become a fellow of the

Royal Society of Arts

. He has earned a PMD from Harvard Business School.

As global director of research and design, Kordaris will oversee the

Humanscale Design Studio

of more than forty architects, designers, and prototypists.
