Gianluca Pacchioni Experiments With Molten Metals in Creative Furnishings

After completing studies in economics and business, Gianluca Pacchioni took a sharp detour, immersing himself in the Parisian art scene of the 1990’s. It was there that he stoked a passion for sculpting. Upon returning to his native Milan, he opened an atelier devoted to experimenting with molten metals.

At the Collective Design fair, Pacchioni demonstrates his techniques, which he describes as “disguising art as utility—or is it the other way around?” In the Cremino console, red Persian travertine is partially covered in liquid brass, which sets the stone’s surface cavities and imperfections into permanence. With stainless-steel legs, the piece stands 32 inches high. Through DDC.
