Big Ideas: If Willy Wonka Were an Architect

When the

Maison & Objet

trade fair in Paris declared

Nendo

the designer of the year, the firm’s founder, Oki Sato, showed his gratitude with boxes of custom chocolates. As the name Chocolatexture suggests, Sato set out to explore how shape affects taste. Thus the nine pieces were all different, featuring clustered drops, pointy tips, thin rods, and so forth. Though the bittersweet treats were gobbled up during the fair, Sato hopes for eventual distribution to chocoholics everywhere.
