Jaime Hayon Sculptures Return to Atlanta’s High Museum
He’s back by popular demand. Jaime Hayon’s whimsical animal-shaped sculptures will return to the Carroll Slater Sifly Piazza at Atlanta’s High Museum of Art for the second summer in a row. This year’s installation, Merry Go Zoo, features a quartet of colorful figures in polyurethane mounted atop round metal-and-wood bases. Visitors are encouraged to interact with the Barcelona-based designer’s sculptures and perhaps even go for a ride—each is spinnable.
Building on the success of Tiovivo, last year’s outdoor installation, Hayon will concurrently present Technicolor, an immersive showcase in the Museum’s Anne Cox Chambers Wing. Exploring his unconventional approach to color and technique, Technicolor will comprise six large-scale fiber textiles—woven in the Tilburg Textile Museum’s TextielLab—and stacked ceramics hand-painted in glossy glazes.
Merry Go Zoo will display until November 26.
